Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, University of Madras in association with Nehru Children’s Cultural Association conducted a Mathematics Quiz Competition for school students to mark the Memorial Day of Mathematical Genius Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Winners received Ramanujan Awards. The prizes and Certificates were distributed to the winners. The Awards and Prize distributed at The School of Chemical Sciences Auditorium, University of Madras, Guindy Campus. Dr. Prof. N. Raaman, Director of Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, University of Madras presided over the function and talk about ‘Life and work of Ramanujan. Dr. Prof. R. Sivaraman, Founder of Pie Mathematics Association and Professor of Mathematics, D.G. Vaishnava College distributed the awards and prizes to the winners and spoke about Ramanujan’s contribution towards Mathematics. Dr. N.Radhakrishnan,Assistant Professor, Research Scholars M. Arun Kumar, Miss. V. Rajeswari were honoured. T.R. Mani conducted the Mathematics Quiz . Miss.R. Sowmini welcomed the gathering and Miss. R. Yamini proposed the vote of Thanks.

Sugumaran, President, Nehru Children’s Cultural Association who organized the event said that the association has planned to organize a Science Field Trip for school students during summer and training camp for Mathematics Olympiad from 6th June to 23rd August 2015.
