TNPL update – CEO Prasanna Kannan Interview
TNPL aims to take cricket to districts, says CEO Prasanna Kannan
Prasanna Kannan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), spoke at the end of the Player Draft.
Excerpts from a conversation:
On the draft:
It has gone very well. We expected the player drafts to finish by six o’ clock and have done it way before that time period. The teams were prepared in identifying players during the drafts and it actually has been a good thing for them. Despite the time being given for these player selections yesterday we are happy that we actually finished six hours prior to the time. We started at 11 AM and had three breaks of 45 minutes each and finished before the given time. Overall it looks positive, and the next step is unveiling individual teams for which some names have already been finalized. Though some are still remaining, we hope it all goes well.
The aim of the TNPL:
It is our aim to take the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) to the districts and involve the district players. Two district players had to be in each squad. Now, if you see, at the end of the day four to five district players on an average have been picked per team. It is an encouraging sign which we hope will create ripples in both TNCA and in the state as well.
