TNPL update – Chepauk Team Owner Sivanthi Adityan Interview

We followed the West Indian approach in our selection, says Sivanthi Adityan

Chennai: Adityanars are not only a big media family in South India but their passion for promoting various sports is well known too. After supporting volleyball and shooting, they finally make their entry into cricket with the Chepauk team in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). Sivanthi Adityan, owner of the Chepauk franchise said, “I am extremely happy with the composition of the team. We have picked a lot of all-rounders in our team and followed a West Indian approach in our selection. As a media group I felt that our presence was a must. This format should take off as a lot of people are keen on it.”
He also pays tribute to fans of the team who came up with the slogan for the team of “Pattaya Kalappu” in a contest and says that a sport is nothing without the fans. Fans can look forward to a lot of interactive activities as well.
The team has recruited former India player Hemang Badani as their coach and he has been keeping a keen eye on the upcoming talent as well. He stressed that it is a great opportunity for a lot of players, “A lot of the players don’t get to be seen, so this tournament will give them a platform to showcase their talent.”
