TNPL update – Karaikudi Team Owner Rajamani Muthuganesan Interview
We will put sports on the Karaikudi map, says Rajamani Muthuganesan
Chennai: The buzz around the Karaikudi team has been low-key until now but the franchise picked up speed at the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) Player Draft. Karaikudi Owner, Rajamani Muthuganesan said, “Though we were the last team to place our bids which was a slight disadvantage we got a lot of good players. Also having Robin Singh at the helm as our coach is going to be a great boon. We have picked a lot of good right/left combinations.”
The team is happy with the pool of players that they have picked including S Badrinath, S Anirudha, R Srinivas as well as six district players. He also states that they have done a lot of homework prior to the draft but they had created a lot of combinations and shortlisted 200 players in advance.
So what does the team hope to give Karaikudi? Mr Muthuganesan says, “Karaikudi is known for its food, culture and architecture but next we will nurture talent from the district and put sports on the map.” They also hope to attack the grass-root level by conducting tourneys between rural districts as well as schools.
