TNPL will help promote cricket in the districts, says TNCA Treasurer VP Narasimhan

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) Treasurer VP Narasimhan said that the aim of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is to increase the player pool from the state for tournaments like the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mr Narasimhan said, “We aim to unearth quality players through (TNPL) which the sport can be promoted in various districts of Tamil Nadu.”

Mr Narasimhan also spoke about the importance of the TNPL for Tamil Nadu cricket. “TNPL is a good platform for players to get picked for the Ranji Trophy. This will help them move up the ladder. The TNPL is an organised and professional system which aims at the overall good of cricketers in the state. The TNCA has invested good money for the infrastructure of the TNPL with the stadium at Tirunelveli being one of them.”

Mr Narasimhan added that the TNCA want more representation of district players in the Ranji Trophy and also raise the standard of the sport in the state. “We are in process of identifying two to three grounds at the moment which may serve in the long-term plan post the TNPL,” he concluded.
