Head hits exceptional ton in World Cup final | CWC23
Travis Head’s aggressive ton took the game away from India.
Australia’s Travis Head hit a centuey in the World Cup final against India in Ahmedabad on Sunday as his team closed in on a record-extending sixth title.
Victory for Australia is a important moment in what has been a great year for Pat Cummins’ side across all formats, counting up to their win over India in the World Test Championship final in June and subsequently their retention of the Ashes.
Australia were shaky at 47-3 in pursuit of a target of 241 against unbeaten tournament hosts India.
But the left-handed opener Head’s 95-ball century, with 14 fours and a six, took them to 185-3 in the 34th over.
